AUTUMN FLU AND COVID VACCINATIONS
FLU VACCINE
We will be running a “walk in” flu clinic on Saturday 7 October between 9am and 3:30pm for our over 65 and at risk patients. No appointment is necessary.
Please check the criteria beforehand as we cannot vaccinate you if you are not eligible (see below).
Shingles and Pneumococcal: Please note that if you are eligible for these we can offer one or both of these vaccines at the same time as your flu vaccination.
2-3 year old nasal flu: The nurses will be running a nasal flu immunisation clinic for our 2 and 3 year olds and individual invitations will be issued by the practice.
School children will receive their vaccines through the child health immunisation service administered at the schools as usual. These should not be booked in for immunisation at the surgery.
The below groups will be eligible for a flu vaccine:
- those aged 65 years and over
- those aged 6 months to under 65 years in clinical risk groups.
- all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2023
- primary school aged children (from Reception to Year 6)
- those in long-stay residential care homes
- carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
- close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
- frontline workers in a social care setting without an employer led occupational health scheme including those working for a registered residential care or nursing home, registered domiciliary care providers, voluntary managed hospice providers and those that are employed by those who receive direct payments (personal budgets) or Personal Health budgets, such as Personal Assistants
COVID BOOSTERS
Due to difficulties with the supply of the Covid vaccines I am afraid that we will not be doing any Covid boosters this autumn at the practice. The only exceptions will be our care homes and housebound patients and these will take place during September/October.
Eligible patients should book using the 119 booking service once they have received their invitation letter from NHS England which will be in available from 18 September.
